I have roughly 300 people that read my blog when I post a new update, which is a lot more than I ever expected! I’m going to see if I can goad some of you into commenting more often, so I’m going to try and start up this Question of the Week spiel. I’m gonna throw out a quickie today to see how it goes.

Do you think you live an interesting life? If someone sat down with you and asked you to tell them about yourself, who you are, how you live, and what you do, do you think they would be legitimately interested in what you have to say? Why?

My Answer: My first thought was to give a flat no, I don’t think anybody would find my life interesting. Then that ounce of humility in my body faded away and I made the smarter choice. Yes, absolutely, someone would find my life interesting if I had to tell them about myself. That’s sort of the point of living, to me. Having stories to tell. Everyone is interesting. You don’t need to be a superhero or have survived some horrible tragedy to have something interesting to talk about. You need to look for the stories in your daily life. They’re there.

I haven’t lived a terribly glamorous life, but I’ve done some pretty silly things! I’ve met odd people! I’ve done dumb stuff just for the sake of adventure! There’s stories there, there’s stories in all of that.

As for my job? Yeah I think people would be interested by the little nuances of the job, if you explained it in a way that made sense. Most people don’t get the whole blogging thing. “So you write words on the internet, huh?” It’s a little awkward at first, but once you start getting into it, people really warm up to it. It’s legitimately interesting, I think. I work from home doing what I love, and occasionally get sent across the country all expenses paid to cover live events. It’s a sweet deal. It’s old hat to me at this point, but I do think that people would be interested in hearing about it.

So yes, I absolutely think people would be interested in hearing about my life. To be quite honest, I think everyone lives an interesting life if they can pinpoint what makes a good story and what doesn’t. What about you guys, do you agree? Disagree? Do you think you’re interesting, or no?
